Making a nice colorful chrome text effect


In this tutorial you will see how to easily make a cool looking chrome effect, that can be applied to any letter, shape or object, in just 7 easy steps.

1.
Make The letter you want to apply your effect to, the bigger the better, the right click the text layer in the layers panel and choose rasterize layer.

Make gradient as shown in the image below. Hold down ctrl and click the text layer to load the text selection, then drag the gradient from left to right, over the selection.

Now go to filters -> filter gallery and located the filter called accented edges and drag the handles as shown in the image below.

Double click the text layer to get to the layers style panel, and give it a drop shadow with settings as in the image below.

In a new empty layer, with the elliptical selection tool, drag an oval just across the letter from left to right, as shown below, then drag it down under the letter, so it looks like a shadow, and looks like the letter is floating.

Now use the edit -> free transform tool to scale the image vertical to about half size.
Go to filters -> blur -> gaussian blur and blur it about 4.5
Go to filters -> blur -> motion blur and set it as shown below.

Again we have to scale it a bit, so go to edit -> free transform and drag the handles.
In the layers panel you may need to scale down the shadow layers opacity a bit.

And you are done.
