Make a cool light ball in adobe photoshop
In this tutorial you will see how you easily can make a cool shining light ball out of a custom shape object in adobe photoshop.
1.
Start with a black background layer, then make a new blank layer for the light ball.
2.
Now in your toolbox find the costum shapes tool and pick the light ball object as shown in the image below, then click and drag the shape on the new layer.
3.
Right click the shape layer and choose rasterize layer. Hold down ctrl while clicking the shape layer to get the selection.
4.
Grab the gradient tool and make a gradient going from black to what ever color you want, as I did below.
drag from about middle of the light ball and down to where the light balls cirular shape stops, so you get the light ball dimentions.
5.
While still holding the shape selection grab the selection tool and with selection mode intersect with selection, drag so you only have the buttom part of the shape selected as shown below.
6.
With the selection tool choose the selection mode subtract from selection and subtract the two middle part as in the image below, and go to select -> modify -> contract and give it about 3.
7.
Fill the selection with white and give it a gaussian blur filters -> blur -> gaussian blur so it looks like in the image below.
8.
Again hold down ctrl and click the light ball layer to the the selection, then with selection mode subtract from selection use the elliptical selection tool and drag over the selection as in the image below.
9.
Go to select -> modify -> contract and contract with a value about 5 then go to select -> modify -> smooth and give it about 8. then fill the selection with a white color.
10.
With the new layer containing the with reflection go to filter -> blur -> gaussian blur and give it about 9 to blur out the white, you may also want to set the layers opacity a bit down.
11.
Now make a new layer and go to custom shapes and choose the other light ball shape and drag one the same size as the first one, right click it and choose rasterize layer then place it just above the first light ball.
12.
With the erase tool delete all except the inner part of the light ball and then go to layers blending mode and set it to soft light.
13.
Go to filter -> blur -> gaussian blur and set it to about 3 to soften out the edges.
14.
Now double click the first light ball layer to get to layers styles, and in the panel outer glow set its color to the same as the light ball is and give it settings as below.
And you are done.
